66,000 SF Design-Build Science and Planetarium facility featuring a comprehensive mechanical and plumbing systems. The project was reviewed and inspected by DSA.
The mechanical systems included an indoor AHU serving the Planetarium, two rooftop AHUs serving the Science building. Chilled water was generated by two air-cooled screw chillers (200 tons each) located on the roof. To support lab function the project also included a vacuum pump, compressed air system, and reverse osmosis (RO) purified water skid. The project also included forty-three Fan coils, VAVs/CAVs, ducted cooling coils and heating coils.
As part of the initial collaborative design-build team pursuit, we were involved early, working with the campus project management and facility operations team to ensure the mechanical & plumbing systems were selected according to the needs of their facility and prioritizing responsible energy management and operational considerations.
Our Airco mechanical team executed the work under budget and on schedule, and worked closely with the rest of the design-build team to provide a significant project that will benefit the students of the campus for years to come.
