Design, coordination, BIM modelling and construction of a 110,000 sq. ft. 4-story science building on the California State University, Chico campus. The building encompassed mostly laboratory classrooms with dedicated vacuum, compressed air, reverse osmosis, natural gas, and lab waste systems. This building is temperature regulated with an outside air only air handler, chilled beams, radiant panels, air coils and a heat recovery chiller.

Our preconstruction and engineering team worked closely with the University staff to develop the design and budget to balance the priorities of first cost, energy efficiency, high outside air requirements, safe operation, reliability, and service access.

We utilized several different strategies for prefabricated systems, delivering large sections of supply and exhaust shaft ductwork to shorten on-site construction durations, installing multi-trade prefabricated sections of overhead system distribution, and consolidating groups of rooftop components onto prefabricated equipment skids to the greatest extent possible.

These prefabricated assemblies were delivered to the project site on the day of rigging and installation, which limited site lay down requirements, reduced on-site construction durations, improved quality, and reduced risks associated with safety by performing the labor in the controlled environment of our 100,000 square foot Sacramento fabrication facility.
